Wild vs. Hand Raised - Which is Better?

Most of us in the NFSA are owned by flyers who were captive breed or rescued as babies. Most of the fliers up for adoption opened their eyes for the first time to see a loving person with a syringe of warm formula. Our flyers don't feel deprived in the least as they have too much fun watching us jump through hoops for them. Babies raised in households bond VERY strongly with humans and probably could not survive release. Even though a captured, wild flier is cheaper initially, it's doubtful that the flier will grant you much pleasure. A captured adult could well become depressed, stop eating, bite and /or have a fright or flight defense mechanism, just to name a few possibilities. Both Hand Raised and Wild will have their exception stories. We have seen new owners of hand raised fliers not care for owning a flier after all and a few wild, captured fliers that became tamer than others, though we haven't heard of them adapting themselves into shirt divers to the extent of hand raised orphans.
